The kit
This figure from Tommy's War is in 54mm and contrary to most popular beliefs the scale is not the same as the standard 1/35 scale military figure, or sets of figures. Looks to me to be 1/32 which is slightly larger than 1/35, and the difference can be seen when comparing to a 1/35 figure as I did.
Back to the figure. The full resin figure is broken down into separate parts as is the case with nearly all resin figures. There is the torso and legs, two arms, a head and a helmut/flying cap. All are finley cast and come in a small ziplock bag.
Upon examining the cast parts I found no flash or mold lines on the well detailed parts. The flight jacket looks to have texture to create the look of leather. This of course will only show when the figure is painted, which I intend on doing.

Removing the parts from the casting blocks was a breeze using a fine toothed razor saw, and a clean simple clean up of where the block was attached and done. I decided to take a couple more pics with the figure removed from the casting block and the head dry fitted to see how the fit is, which was very good as the collar is high and the neck and head fit in the 'hole' perfectly.
Painting the Figure
With the figure glued I just had to see how it would look, and show the details with some paint on it. I'm not much of a fgure painter so I know it won't be the best paint job or win any prizes, but the object of this is to review this figure as best I could, so painting the figure was a must.
Starting with a coat of primer sprayed in light coats using Vallejo acrylic primer black. The black will be a good base for the shadows when the base colors are applied. With the primer on one can already see the excellant detailing, including the textured jacket.
With the primer dry I then used Lifecolor acrylics for the base colors, getting the colors as close to the reference box art as possible. The Lifecolor paints dry fast so moving onto the next step was quick and easy. I lightened and darkened the base colors and thinned with water to create the shadows and highlighted areas.
I started the flesh, hands and face, with Vallejo acrylics but wasn't too happy with it since I have never painted flesh with acrylics. Once that base flesh was dry I switched to oils and added a bit of shadow and highlights. The same was done for the uniform using oils in the base color shades.
The finished pics below show the oils still wet in areas, due to me taking pictures shortly after the painting and not waiting for them to dry. I could go further with the painting but since this is a review figure and more than likely will not go on a base or vignette.
I look forward to painting another Tommy's War figure in which it would be used for a vignette.
Conclusion
This is a great little figure with very nice detailing. The parts fit perfectly with no filler or major clean up needed. If your into 54mm figures or WWI era, then this and other Tommy's War figures are for you.
I myself enjoyed doing the review and painting of this figure, even if it only took less than two hours from start to finish.. I will definitely have to put one of these figures on my list of must buys in 2014

Alpine - Kurt Meyer in Normandy
Kit # 35163
Scale: 1/35 scale resin

The figure
This full resin figure represents tank commander Kurt Meyer in the Normandy. The set contains 6 resin parts, broken down into the torso and legs, two arms, pistoland choice of two heads. The difference in the heads are the head gear worn. The figure has binos hanging on his chest which is part of the casting and not a separate part.
There are no instructions included, nor are they needed I think. The packaging show the fig in camo uniform and acts as sort of a color guide to paint the figure.
This is a pretty nice figure with some nice detailing. I especially like the choice of heads that Alpine gives you. All in all a nice figure worth having if your building late war German armor and need a cool figure to show the tank off.

The set
From Bravo-6 comes this 1/35 scale full resin figure set. The set includes two figures, broken down into 6 resin parts and decals. One figure is nearly complete, having one arm and his head cast with the body as one part. A separate arm completes the figure. The other figure is cast with the torso and legs as one piece, and a separate head and two arms.
The figures are in a relaxed standing position, hence the name 'take five'. The soldiers are wearing the all green jungle fatigues with side gargo pockets on the trousers. One figure is wearing the two slant pocket jacket, and the other just a T-shirt.
As you can see in the image above, one of the arms in my review sample has a small air bubble hole on the elbow. This isn't too much of a problem and can be fixed with some putty or similar. I really like the uniform details on these figures and think they will really come to full effect when painted.
The decal sheet containsmarkings for various ranks and also unit patches. The 1 st CAV patches look really nice and should sit good on the sleeve with some solve a set fluid.
Overall a decent two figure set from Bravo-6.
Many thanks to James from High Calibre Miniatures in Canada for supplying this review sample.

A full resin figure set containing just three parts, the body and two arms. The figure depicts a Waffen SS panzer crewman, suitable for Tiger tanks, in camouflage one piece coveralls. The figure is posed in a relaxed standing position with one leg bent and resting on the hull roof of a Tiger tank, and one hand resting on the gun barrel see the box art. The crewman is not wearing any head gear so the sculpter gave him a full head of hair which nicely represented here.
There is minimal flash and mold seem lines to clean but nothing major, and can be cleaned up in a few minutes. Using the box art as a painting guide this could be a nice little figure to add to a Tiger tank around the Kursk 1943 time. The figure could be used for other tanks or even having him resting his foot/leg on a crate etc.
Overall a great little kit and highly recommended, as are most of the Stalingrad miniatures.
